I'm always late by at least five minutes. That's why it shouldn't be too much of a surprise to see that today's post is about the 4th of July. Which was, of course, three days ago. I'm just doing my best to stay true to form, really! My friends Alexandra&Josh, the parents of this handsome boy, had a barbecue for their pals and their pals' pups alike, which was fantastic because, as you all know, I tend to think that any gathering can be made even better when there are dogs around. [Am I the only one who thinks that, or do y'all agree?!]

The puppy party-goers: Claire, Chase, Millie, Belle, and Binkley. |
It was still unseasonably hot, so everyone - dogs included - probably spent more time inside than we did outside. Theo manned the grill, and the dogs were more than happy to keep him company in case he accidentally dropped something (like the bacon that was supposed to be for the jalapeno poppers, or the beef&pork burgers). Claire stuck around to be a taste tester for Alexandra's red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. [For the record, she approved of this recipe.]

No fireworks for us, though. The lack of rain and scorching temperatures in Nashville had residential displays banned. When we got home, we could hear the fireworks from the show downtown, though, and Claire and I jumped out of our skin every time they set one off! What did your 4th of July celebration entail?
4th of July, I just bummed around in the comfort of my home. I walked Elka earlier in the day, and while we could hear the fireworks from my house, we couldn't see them.

ReplyDeleteSounds like y'all had a great 4th! We had a spectacular 4th as well. Did plenty of lounging on the lake while the pups ran along the shore line scrambling after frogs and cooling their paws off!
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you that all parties should have dogs, but I know quite a few folks who would pretty much stop coming to my parties if that's what they turned into!
